Roohi Moolla
Born in Burma, growing up in England, Scotland and Wales, moving to Canada with my family as a teenager and then to the US as an adult, I’ve had the privilege and pleasure of having lived and traveled all over the world. With more than 28 years of experience spanning careers in Architecture and Information Technology, my background in the creative and technology fields has given me a passion for solving business problems with out-of-the-box thinking.
In my early career, I was involved in a number of large-scale residential and commercial ventures in Toronto, Canada. For the past 16 years, I’ve designed, developed and implemented a number of commercial website and e-commerce solutions for a variety of industries including telecommunications, social networking, construction, and finance as well as websites for organizations in the private and public sector.
My career in website technology has included a number of software startups, including the dating site that became Match.com, a proprietary Bid/RFP procurement and subscription system (now publicly traded as Onvia) and a Syndicate Municipal Bond Trading platform, BondDeskSyndicate - which gave me the opportunity to travel all over the US to train corporate executives including underwriters, bankers, and investors.
These days I write, speak, blog and act as a resource for all things Social Media. SocialBizNow is one of my latest projects, it’s a news and information website on social media, technology and the digital web. I’m also the founder and developer of Neighborhoodnow.com, an online community portal, and am the Producer of SocialBizWorld, a social media conference in Petaluma, California – just a stone’s throw from the Pacific Ocean and at the foot of wine country in Sonoma County.
Oh yes, and I have a Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Manitoba and a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Arizona, and am a Microsoft Certified Professional.
