Some Rules Are Meant To Be Broken…

Thumbnail image for Some Rules Are Meant To Be Broken…

[Updated 11/20/2011] My favorite game when I was 8 years old was Monopoly. I loved the idea of owning property, building a kingdom, the risks and rewards – and I loved the rules. Taking turns to move around the board, getting paid if someone landed on your property, 3 turns to get out of jail without doubles and without a Get Out of Jail card…lots of options, lots of possibilities. When you were a child, you naturally loved to play games. You learned the accepted pattern…and sometimes, you figured out what you could do to change the pattern and make it more interesting. Still [...]

Thumbnail image for Let’s Get Personal: What Facebook Ads Can Do For Your Business

Leo Burnett, an American advertising icon, once said “…in the advertising din of today, unless you make yourself noticed and believed, you ain’t got nothin’…” That sentiment couldn’t be more true today, in the Age of Information and mass media. As the social media giant of today (who knows which company will bear that banner in a year or two from now?) – Facebook is the Ultimate Personalized Platform – a wealth of demographic and psychographic information. A true customer goldmine for marketers, it’s one of the primary reasons businesses are flocking to Facebook in droves.

44 Excellent Free and For-A-Fee WordPress Themes

Thumbnail image for 44 Excellent Free and For-A-Fee WordPress Themes

A WordPress theme is simply a type of template that helps give your blog or website a “look and feel” with colors, layout and structure. Some themes have more features, bells and whistles like image sliders, fade-in/fade-out effects and embedded video capability. A theme “sits” on top of the underlying WordPress Content Management framework when you build a blog or website with the WordPress platform, and is usually customizable to some extent so that you can tailor the theme more specifically to your needs. When you choose a theme, you’re committing your site to the design possibilities and the limitations [...]

Thumbnail image for Top 34 Social Media To-Do’s for Marketing Managers

While still very young, social media is beginning to mature in its meteoric rise to marketing stardom, and businesses have begun to recognize the importance of implementing an organized structure to managing their social media efforts. I’ve organized this list of social media marketing “To-Do’s” into five groups of what I would call the primary activities required for anyone who’s involved in executing social media campaigns and strategies for businesses: Listen, Monitor, Engage, Manage and Measure. How To Create a Custom Page Reveal for Facebook Fans

Thumbnail image for How To Create a Custom Page Reveal for Facebook Fans

You’ve seen them everywhere on Facebook – those fancy “reveals” that when you “Like” a page and become a fan you get to see a special bit of content, maybe a coupon, special offer or other “fan-only” cool stuff. And now you want to know how to do this for your own Business Page (without having to buy a Fan Page Editor). This is what’s known as a “Reveal” – and is an opportunity for you as a business to “reward” your fans when they land on your business Page. If you’re not a fan you see a sign that [...]

How Much Is A Customer Worth To Your Business?

Customer

Do you know how much a customer is really worth to your business? Many small businesses think of their customers as one-time, single purchase customers. But think about it – a customer doesn’t necessarily make just one purchase from a business. In fact, getting repeat customers by building ongoing relationships is the heart of good marketing. It’s one of the reasons that social media is so appealing to marketers – it gives business the opportunity to connect and engage with customers and build ongoing relationships through other marketing channels that were previously unavailable. Add to that the fact that social [...]

Facebook Ads Reach 62.4% of All Online Americans

Thumbnail image for Facebook Ads Reach 62.4% of All Online Americans

Online reach of social network advertising is growing rapidly, and Facebook is the glaring winner – for now. A study published by comScore on October 20th shows that Facebook ads reach 62.4% of all Americans online – 10 times as many of those who are on LinkedIn, and 20 times as many of those who are on Twitter. Facebook has historically had a dismal clickthru rate until recently, but perhaps it doesn’t matter anyway because of the sheer volume of traffic that now passes through Facebook? Seems to me that Facebook advertising could quickly become the equivalent of Google’s ad [...]
