What to Tweet to Create Your Personal Brand

Thumbnail image for What to Tweet to Create Your Personal Brand

Now that 106 million Twitter accounts have been set up, it’s a great time to distinguish yourself from the rank & file. Anyone notice anything different? People searching has shifted

Thumbnail image for Anyone notice anything different? People searching has shifted

If I want to find someone, I used to look in www.whitepages.com. Now I look first on Facebook, LinkedIn and possibly Twitter. If I’m just looking for information, yes – I’ll still go to Google – but not always, mind you… My searches – at least for people – are shifting, from the #1 search engine to social networking sites…

Got my Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts – now what?

For many people I speak to who have begun to stick their toe in the water with Social Media, many say that they opened their Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn accounts, started Tweeting, Facebooking and LinkingIn but just aren’t really seeing much in the way of results. My question to them is usually “What goal do you have in mind with your Social Media Strategy?”. Most of the time, people are so excited about the the possibilities of connecting with potential clients and reaching so many people with the low-cost tools of Social Media that they jump in, feet first – and [...]

The SEC loves Social Media…

Thumbnail image for The SEC loves Social Media…

If you still think that Social Media is hype, a fad, on the fringe and has little value, take a look at the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC) and what they’re doing in Social Media.  Emily Molitor interviewed Mark Story, the Director of New Media at the SEC and wrote a great piece on how the SEC made the decision to embrace Twitter and Blogs in a major effort to reach investors, the media and job-seekers. Since President Obama issued the Open Government Initiative as part of an effort to “… harness new technologies to put information about their operations and [...]

Experts, Gurus, Evangelists oh my…The Top 5 Questions to Ask your “Social Media Guru”

Thumbnail image for Experts, Gurus, Evangelists oh my…The Top 5 Questions to Ask your “Social Media Guru”

While Social Media may be “new” to most people, the concept of conversing online has been around for a long time. But a new phenomenon is emerging of people claiming to be social media “gurus” and ”evangelists” – but how do you decide if the person you’re talking to about creating your social media campaign is truly an “expert”? Just because they have a profile on Facebook or have read one or two best-sellers on Amazon does not make them an expert. Lots of companies these days are looking around for someone to help them create an online media campaign that includes Twitter [...]

Thumbnail image for New Twitter media portal: “Social Viewing” boosts television viewership on Bad Girls Club

Twitter has launched a new media portal site with tools, knowledge, tips and tricks for conventional media… The site includes case studies like the OxygenLive experiment in which the Oxygen network piloted a social viewing component to it’s 4th season opener of Bad Girls Club – and significantly boosted it’s ratings. OxygenLive is an experience for viewers which is a combination of feeds—live video from show talent alongside questions and answers in a CoverItLive widget and, of course, tweets. Take a look at it here; Oxygen is now rolling the program out across the entire network. What’s most significant about this experiment [...]

Sneak Peek: Twitter has a new re-design coming…

Heard about Twitter’s major new re-design? Doug Bowman, Creative Director at Twitter, posted a sneak peek at Twitter’s new interface – very cool! Though the teaser doesn’t show much, it does looks like more stats on the profiles, including the number of days you’ve been on Twitter, when you joined, the average number of tweets a day you post, and the percentage of recent @replies. While it doesn’t show a lot, it does mean that a major re-design is coming out soon – what do you think of the design so far?
